The Problem
The main problem I am trying to solve is simply the current website is dated, ugly, and "cartoonish", and most importantly, the owner or stakeholder is unhappy he still has a website that looks like it is from the beginning years of the internet.
My job is to interview the client to understand his pain points, and get a solid understanding of the direction he wants to go in with not just his website but his brand as a whole.
Stakeholder Interview
The first thing I did was create an interview prompt to guide me that would guarantee I touch on the topics I needed and then I started a conversation with the owner. My goals were to understand his current frustrations, how he viewed his restaurant, how he wanted others to view his restaurant, and how he wanted to grow.
“He HAAATES his site. He does not want it as bright and vibrant and does not like how cartoony it is. Wants a more modern site. He wants darker colors and the nautical fisherman theme.”
The Process
After I interviewed the owner, I created some color schemes with him and we looked at other web pages for inspiration. After This I reviewed his current site with him to get a better idea of what he "hates".
I took my feedback and first wrote down the required content and did a card sorting exercise with my coworkers. Following this created multiple wireframes and design iterations.
I then took my final design and did some brief testing with a few users to make sure the content guides them correctly and then presented the new product to the owner who was very happy with the outcome.
